Welcome to the Alberta Firefighters Pipe Band

The mandate of the Alberta Firefighters Pipe Band (AFPB) is to encourage and support the playing of the great Highland Bagpipes & Drums within Alberta’s Emergency Services.

Founded in the fall of 2009, the Alberta Firefighters Pipe Band was initially established to assist the Calgary Fire Department Pipes & Drums and other Alberta fire department pipe bands with the large number of events and requests they were receiving.

The band has since outgrown its “support” role, and functions as an independent pipe band with over 20 active members. The band has participated in dozens of parades, charity events, fire service functions and pipe band competitions across Alberta. Its membership welcomes volunteer and professional firefighters, civilians and other members of Alberta’s Emergency Services. The band takes great pride in welcoming both veteran and novice pipers and drummers into its ranks. 

The AFPB won the 2014 Alberta Championships in Grade V and currently practices at the CPS headquarters on McKnight Blvd., Calgary. The band is an active member of the Calgary Firefighters Piping & Drumming Society.
